I’m Conor. By day I’m a Developer Experience Engineer, which means my job is making other engineers’ lives just a little bit easier. Outside of work, I’ve somehow ended up pointing that same skill set at my own flat — Home Assistant has become the hobby that eats every spare evening, alongside a decent habit of doom-scrolling tech news and the occasional trip to the cinema or theatre.

Mostly, it’s a reference for myself. I want somewhere to record the home automation projects I’ve actually finished (and the ones that took three attempts to get right), plus a way to put down my thoughts on some developments in the observability space. If you happen to learn something from one of my mistakes, or one of my rarer successes, even better.

Expect two loose threads: home automation write-ups, and reference-style posts on the software engineering stuff I think about day to day. No fixed schedule, no house style beyond keeping things short and readable.
